New School-based Health Center Service Provider in 2023-2024

Summary: We are excited to announce that beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, services at our Wellness Center will be provided by Neighborcare Health.

We are excited to announce that beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, services at our Wellness Center will be provided by Neighborcare Health, the largest provider of school-based health care in Seattle Public Schools (SPS).

After a two-year partnership and interim support from our colleagues at Public Health –Seattle & King County, their school-based health center (SBHC) team will be stepping back at the end of the 2022-2023 school year. We are grateful to our Public Health team for their wonderful support and care of our Denny students and families throughout these past two years. The Public Health team will continue providing services in the Wellness Center for the remainder of the current school year, with Neighborcare joining future school and community events to meet with families and help students get registered for services for next year.

Denny International Middle School, SPS, and Neighborcare Health have a long, successful history working together. For 23 years, Neighborcare was the SBHC for Denny and its families. Neighborcare CEO Rashad Collins remarks on the collaboration, “The Denny community has always remained close to the heart of our program. We are very excited to once again partner with and serve the school community. Our goal is to build strong and supportive partnerships with Denny staff and help students and families to have a smooth transition of care.”

Neighborcare Health is a community health center that has been serving the Seattle community at neighborhood clinics for over 50 years.  They have been a provider of school-based health center services for more than three decades and operate 14 SBHCs across Seattle and on Vashon Island. Many in our community may also know Neighborcare as the school-based health center provider for Chief Sealth High School as well as several other elementary schools in our community.

The Neighborcare SBHC Wellness Center at Denny International Middle School is a full-service clinic providing all the services of a family doctor, plus dental care, mental health services, health education and more, in a convenient, youth-friendly setting.  Any student enrolled at Denny may be seen in the wellness center once their parent or guardian completes and signs a registration packet.  Before, during, and after school appointments are available throughout the school year, helping to ensure students are healthy, happy and ready to learn.
